Department Responsibilities


The Emergency Management Agency is responsible for coordinating response, resource allocation, providing technical assistance, support, etc. during emergencies. Non-emergency activities are consist of maintaining the Washington County Emergency Operations Plan, 63 municipal plans, 14 school plans, 73 dam inundation plans, and internal emergency operation plans. Emergency Management personnel provide radiological training for first responders and hazardous materials team members. Training is also provided for Local EMA coordinators, Emergency Operations Center staff, amateur radio operators, and Skywarn weather observers.
