Bicycle Patrol

About the Patrol

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is proud to have established the first sheriff's bicycle patrol in Pennsylvania. The bicycle patrol was established in August 1998 and is used primarily to patrol the county parks and other areas as they are developed by needs assessment.

The primary objective of the bicycle patrol is to provide a practical means of patrol in areas not conducive to vehicle patrol in order to bring deputies closer to the citizens of Washington County in a non-threatening manner. The deputies assigned to the bicycle patrol are volunteers and must successfully complete a training course and a bicycle practical exercise examination.
